Creating a FlipBook using Flipsnack

Here I will demonstrate how I essentially created a flipbook using the Flipsnack website. The main idea here is that I was testing this online software to see how this could be used on my Wix website.

I chose to create a simple travel magazine with a couple of pages containing travel articles...

First of all I selected a template from the Canva website for my magazine cover.

Once I selected the template, I customised it to create an eye-catching magazine cover page - this was done through creating a new A4 canvas with a dark green background.  I then selected a copyright free high resolution image of a backpacker on the Splash website. I then used the Serif font: Playfair Display back for the title of my magazine (font size 87) with the colour white to make the title stand out against the dark green background. I then added short, snappy taglines to make the reader interested to read the magazine.

I then began creating the pages from the magazine that I thought would come together nicely. The headings were created using the Josefin Sans font and main text using Arimo. I then began adding images to pages. I adjusted the images to ensure that they worked on each page, and then I added text boxes where I thought it was appropriate, using the Text toolbar menu and adjusting the font size accordingly. Here's an example of one of the pages - I won't post all of them here because you can see the entire flipbook on my website.

I then save the magazine in PDF format as this is what the Flipsnack needs. After saving the magazine I can then upload my files in pdf format to Flipsnack which converted these into a flipbook.

I went to menus and pages and instead of add page I went to the link icon to use the embedded link on my website pages like this.

I then added the Flipsnack embedded link, which created a new page with an embedded link on the menu - I changed the name of the page and then clicked done. To test this, I clicked on preview, and the user was taken directly to my travel magazine flipbook.

I love the idea of a flipbook for a magazine as I think this would work extremely well - as seen in the case of my practice travel magazine. If I had more time I would have added more pages and a range of images which would I think be an improvement.
